Another contender has declared for Kilkenny City in the upcoming Local Elections.
Michael McGrath will run as an Independent in Kilkenny City Local Electoral Area in June.
He was educated to seven honours Leaving Certificate and went back to SETU and TCD as an adult studying computer engineering, science and programming. “I believe in lifelong learning”, says Michael, who is considered a polymath by those who know him. He has just had a learned book published and selling well.
He has a passion for driving real change in Irish politics. And though he is an avid Kilkenny hurling fan, he supports Everton as the genuine Liverpool Irish football team.
Expressing his motivation to enter the race, Michael highlighted his concerns over various issues plaguing the country, including the migrant crisis, healthcare crisis and the housing crisis. he wants hidden cameras across the city with a new control room in the garda station.
He has always stood for an element of pedestrianisation of the city centre that need not include the whole of High Street, but only as far as Dores opticians/James’ Street corner in a new plan that would suit drivers too, that would connect James’ Street to the Market Yard.
For years he has campaigned to house the Irish first! He says he would love to serve his beloved city as a councillor before he dies and thus seeks one last chance from the voters. “I have been fighting these issues long before the far right emerged in Ireland”
Michael emphasized his commitment to offering the people of Kilkenny City a real alternative and a rebel voice to express their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs.
He pledges to be a present and accessible representative, actively listening to constituents’ concerns and advocating for their needs.
“I firmly believe that our community deserves a new, energetic voice that prioritises their interests and engages with them regularly,” Michael states.
Caring for the most vulnerable in society, as well as his stance on sensible migration, economics and common sense solutions are Michael McGrath’s hallmark.
In announcing his candidacy, Michael McGrath urged the residents of Kilkenny city to consider supporting him in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the need for fresh perspectives and proactive representation in local government.

Michael McGrath also wants police cameras all over the city so that the Gardai at Dominic Street can watch the criminals on TV and send in fast snatch squads to arrest the blackguards – especially at night.
He reckons he is the longest serving immigration critic in the country since he first identified the problem back in 1997 – 27 years ago now.
He also wants bronze, silver and gold medals for the mothers of ireland – he led the No No campaign in Kilkenny city.
He is a longstanding advocate for the pedestrianisation of Kilkenny city centre.
Michael McGrath states that he is a Civil Libertarian who believes in Tolerance and Understanding of all including Gay and Trans folk and in the dignity of every human being to choose their own path unfettered in this life.
He is a keen student of Irish druidry and has a book published titled, “THE WISDOM OF THE IRISH DRUIDS”. He states that it’s time again to find a place for such wisdom in Irish public life.
And he has relevant experience. Mr. McGrath was at one time an Executive Officer in the Housing section of the Department of Local Government, educated at SETU Waterford and Trinity College Dublin. His father, Michael “Maxi” McGrath was an ambulance driver and then Ambulance Controller at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, died suddenly back in 1982.

Mixed gangs of the unvetted, some of them right big young lads, were shouting and roaring and looked threatening around the area from High Street to the market yard last evening around seven as it turned dark.
Á pavilion erected in the market yard where people were drumming attracted them and got them into highly excited mode, whatever they were on!
Local shoppers, including this writer, felt endangered. I got out of the way and headed home fast up along James’ Street, quick as I could!
So many undocumented males here make the community unsafe.
Every Tom, Dick and Harry from around the world is calling himself a Ukrainian refugee – though they don’t even look to be European!
These lads were looking like they were sizing shoppers up to either rob or beat them. Some of the black fellas were well over six feet and powerfully built, as they roared and shouted in a highly threatening manner.
And not a Garda in sight!

NO NO Campaigner Michael McGrath forecasts a very low poll, as low as 16% in places, and a defeat for both government proposals. He thinks the figure nationwide will be about 25%. In Kilkenny city he ended his own personal campaign last night in keeping with the tradition not to campaign on the day before polling – however we can publish his forecast from his experiences out there campaigning in Kilkenny.
“I canvassed my friends and neighbours around the doors where I found such apathy and indifference that I believe only one in six will bother to turn out and vote”. he summed up. They actually said they would vote for me in the locals but have no interest in these referendums tomorrow.
“The Panty Party, as I call women activists in the abortion and marriage equality referenda – they’re mostly climate change and Black Lives Matter activists too – were nowhere to be seen or heard. I suspect that secretly they would like to keep their special position in the constitution, as some of those I know tend to be narcissistic.
“If the rest of the country is anything like Kilkenny city the NO NO will win these two referenda.I believe that Senator Michael McDowell is the catalyst for the NO NO vote. And now another former justice minister, Alan Shatter, has popped up to give even more legal expert support to McDowell’s dire predictions of the chaos yes votes would bring. They are influencing the intellectual vote in Dublin, even gaining supporters for NO NO in the MSM media.
